  • NH Sheep & Wool

When the weather cooperates, New Hampshire has one of the nicest Sheep & Wool festivals going.  This year was perfect.  Although I was trapped in Bldg.#2 all weekend, I did manage a quick trip up to Foxfire before the fair opened Sunday morning to buy myself a present of Cashmere and Silk roving.. just a bit.  Very lovely.  There was one other 20 minute trip later the same day where I ran around the fairgrounds just to get the feel of it.  So guys, those of you who took the trouble to find me, and I know that Bldg.#2 is really set apart and away from everything else… I thank you!  It was SO nice to visit, however briefly, with friends.  My booth mate, Leslie Wind and I pinched ourselves all weekend.  Our neighbor was the tea vendor (thanks for a weekend of samples), and right outside the door another vendor sold the best ginger molasses cookies I’ve ever had.  Pretty fine.

    My view for the weekend..

    5. It was really lovely to see you, and thank you SO much for playing along with our Kellee baby shower shenanigans. We knew that leaving a gifty with you was a safe bet – who could possibly pass your booth and NOT stop in!

    6. It all sounds like a slice of heaven.

    7. It was great meeting you! A true highlight of the day and seeing so many colors of your yarn *swoon*.

    8. Your booth was gorgeous! It was wonderful to visit with you too!

    9. Cashmere and Silk roving….AND tea and cookies??? ~~~sounds like it was a great festival! (and your view was certainly colorful!)

    10. It was lovely to see you. I have to pinch MYSELF to make sure I don’t buy every blue you produce.
      I missed the tea folks.

    11. I was shy and stopped by late saturday but didn’t introduce myself. It looked like you had done quite well already! Luckily Blogless Sharon had given me a few skeins of your goods for my birthday. (Lucky me!)

    12. Definitely a booth with a view! How can you go wrong with wool, cookies and tea?

  • quick note!

Wanted to let you know that I’ll be vending at New Hampshire Sheep & Wool this weekend.  Stop by and visit.  I’ll be in Building #2, first one on your left as you enter the fairgrounds.  It was rather last minute.  This accounts for my not posting this week.  It has been pretty busy, uh..mmm.. dyeing, plying, and tying up skeins and all the other things that go along with the show.
For those who have asked, yes, I will have the Electric SkeinWinder with me.

  • hello!

A new chirp greeted me from the feeder.  The Rose Breasted Grosbeaks were here.  The day was starting out in the best sort of way.  It had been over a week since the humingbird feeder was filled and the syrup looked a bit cloudy.  While water boiled for tea, more and with sugar, heated in the microwave.  I could feel it, today would be the day.  With the feeder refilled, I set out to wash the second load of the CorrieX fleece.  It is SO soft. The color is a lovely shade of grey.  It deserved a second chance.  I sorted through the washed fleece, careful to separate any with dander.  Then I carded the good stuff.  How could I know if it was worth the trouble without spinning it.  Oh my!

As I passed by the kitchen window, something caught my eye!!!!!!

I moved my point of operation out onto the deck for the rest of the day.  They were as happy to be back as I am to have them.  I  know, believe me, they were smiling.

    1. Oh, wow, what a difference! Looks like it will be great to spin. I am loving the return of the birds and their songs in the morning.

    2. Hooray! And that’s a fantastic shot of the hummingbird. Nice job.

    3. What a great picture! 🙂 Actually, two great pictures, but I meant the hummingbird. I love how the bird’s body is clear as a bell, but its wings are just a suggestion. 😉
So some of the fleece was salvageable after all? That’s good news. 🙂

    4. Great shot! I used to watch hummingbirds from the screen porch at my old house, but haven’t seen any around my new house. Need to get more plants! Or a feeder.

    5. I wonder if the Grosbeaks and hummers have arrived at the Silver Fork?

    6. Tamara

      Yayyyyy!!!!!

    7. There they are! Your post makes me smile!
And that fleece, beautiful! Much better than mulch!

    8. How I would love to see one of those little hummingbirds ! We don’t have them over here, but if we did I think I would sit and watch all day !
But your picture makes me smile too !

    9. That’s a stunning picture, bird in flight. Beautiful!
I’m glad some of the fleece works. Corrie adds so much to the breeding.

    10. Love the fleece! It looks so soft now.
Hummingbirds! So sweet. He does look happy to be back.

I’ve been dreaming for a week of buying a house on the Devon coast of England. Luckily, you have reminded me that the English do not have hummingbirds. I think I’ll stay put.

    12. Waaaah, none here yet, but I had the same thing….my feeder was cloudy, so I washed and refilled it Saturday. Maybe today….

    13. Lee-Fay

I’m so impressed by that photo. I haven’t commented in a while but I’ve been enjoying your photos of your walks. I hope you don’t mind, but once in a while I pinch one of your photos to use as my wallpaper for a couple of days. They take me to a different world.

    14. Gorgeous fiber! What a photo! Hummingbirds are the coolest…
