    Saturday’s sky…  gorgeous.

goldenrod merino/silk singles,   reflected sky merino/silk zephyr lace weight

I’ve been busy.  I spent a couple hours in the shop drilling out the new nylon inserts in the Dixon bobbins that were made for me last fall.  They had warped and the beautiful brass ends made a terrible racket.  I just couldn’t make myself sit down and spin with them.  Last weekend C and Dave Paul, drilled the brass out and glued in the nylon sleeves .  Today, I had to sand off the excess glue and drill out the nylon on the drill press.  I still don’t have them right..  but they are quiet.  I’ll shave a bit more out tomorrow.  My corner of the shop is off limits this weekend.  C has been busy building my work benches.  Nice!  Big!  Beautiful! Workbenches.. and they are all mine.

This beautiful silk and Icelandic is from the Vermont Sheep & Wool a few weeks ago.  I’m spinning it on the Schacht for the Twisted Knitters kal.  I haven’t decided if I’ll dye it, the color is lovely as it is.  I bought 2 oz. and separated it into 2 – 1 oz. pieces.  It will become a 2 ply.  I’ll see what kid of yardage I end up with, then pick the project.

To my neighbors, the deer, moose, and bear..
You are welcome to stay here for the duration.  Mind your manners, keep your heads down and then move along when the season is over.  Good luck.  Bow season for deer opened this morning.   Guns allowed for moose and bear.  And, to the muskrats that moved into the pond this morning, I do not feel the same way about you.  Please move along immediately.

My red jacket is out of the closet.  I hate this, I have things to do.

    1. Oh, crap, it’s bow season? I’m so out of touch with that. Did you hear about the hooplah at MVU yesterday? Ugh.

    2. P.S. The photos are wonderful. I had almost forgotten about my Icelandic/silk blend. Hmmmmmm, thinking, thinking…… 🙂

    3. Can’t decide what is more beautiful..the sky or the colors you dye.

    4. Beautiful Saturday sky, and I love the name of the zephyr.

    5. Oh yes, THAT time of year. But the tradeoff is the color of that sky, I think.

    6. My what furry neighbors you have! The only thing I have to worry about is squirrels & birdies. Workbenches, huh? I love spousal support in the arts…

    7. I am grateful that M is not the hunter the ex was…

    8. Awesome sky… ick bow season, the year I lived in the mountains in Western Mass, I became sick to my stomach every time a car approached going the other way with various deer sprawled and tied on the hood and top and etc.
      OH your goldenrod is exquisite!

    9. Lovely sky, lovely dyes.
Animals. Yeah. We are supposed to co-exist. *sigh* Still hate the deer appetite.

    10. The Icelandic/Silk blend looks beautiful…and the golden rod and reflected sky are lovely together….humm, bow season..I’d be careful walking on Wed…

    1. Wow…that could be a “Saturday Sky” as well!

    2. Gorgeous ferns!

    3. I envy the blue sky!

    4. Wonderful. You draw your inspiration from your surroundings – and share them with us.

    5. The ferns in fall – beautiful. Maybe you could extract the pigment and dye from them?

  • walk with me wednesday

Once or twice a day, I walk the 1/4 mile down and the 1/4 mile back from the mailbox.  The driveway twists and turns its way downhill.  Each shot is the view from the next bend in the road.  It’s been pretty overcast, must be the warm weather.  Bu’s ready to go, are you?

    1. This is cool. I feel like we’ve gone for a walk together and I didn’t even have to get up off my ass.

    2. Thanks for taking us along. What a lovely walk. You’re about 3 weeks ahead of us weather-wise. Even with the clouds, absolutely lovely. Thanks again.

    3. So jealous I could cry. That last shot is killing me.

    4. That is just heaven on earth! To think that I hear the roar of I-15 from my back patio right now….(I’m from CO, so I’m not used to that) I will take a walk with you any day!

    5. Thanks, I needed that!

    6. Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing

    7. Beautiful! Best foot forward.

    8. I love virtually walking with you!

    9. A very pretty walk.

What a beautiful place to live. I really enjoyed the ‘walk’.

    12. What a great series of pictures showing your walk! Now I feel I’ve been for a walk too 🙂

    13. Is that Bu leading the way in picture #1? With such a stalwart trail guide, how could you go wrong.
I can almost smell the fall in your air from your pictures today!

And what’s this on picture no.1 I’m wondering?! Seems as if you’ve got great company on your daily walks to the mailbox. And what a beautiful place to live in!!!

    15. looking at your photos of the ground makes me realize just how much I look down when I walk! (I’ll try to get with the program and remember next Wed.) Lovely sequence…and the pullover below looks great, will be back to watch it grow…

    16. Lovely! Mine’s just gray fog today. If the sun burns through I’ll get a photo of the persimmon tree, but it’s the only spot of good color in this temperate zone. I miss the crunch of autumn leaves underfoot!
