  • more trip/trek

At the last minute, I decided not to bring along the Wings of the Swan as flight knitting.  It required way too much concentration.  And, when the plane hits the mountain thermals, well, um mm.. you can’t go dropping all of yo’s and K tog’s and screwing up hours worth of lace knitting.  I didn’t want to anyway.  Back into the bag it went and there it was…. The Midwest Moonlight Scarf.  Perfect distraction and easy to rip back if needed.  Silk is much easier to work on at 101 F than wool, even if they are socks.  I am enjoying this scarf now tat I have the silk thing worked out.  The only time I had to rip back was after falling asleep.  Who knows what I wasn’t thinking.  Suddenly it had jumped ahead several rows, into the next pattern.

The views were spectacular. The weather a bit iffy with showers every afternoon.  Great for rainbows, lousy for viewing mountain tops.  We visited lots of construction sites.  I love construction sites.  Always have.  Here’s a sample.

    1. Is that Maroon Bells? I haven’t been up there for decades. I need to go.

    2. Your scarf is beautiful. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who loves construction sites. I actually have to slow down on the highway to look at the equipment.

    3. The double rainbow photo is fantastic.

    4. Wow, I love that rainbow pic!

    5. Love your idea of construction, esp. the middle shot. Heading up to the “Northeast Kingdom tomorrow too. Enjoy!

    6. What a beautiful trek! Love the wing picture, too! That scarf pattern is lovely…also with that color yarn!

Your trip pictures are stunning! Thanks for posting those, what a treat for the eye. The one of the lake — I want to go there, that’s all. Your scarf is inspiring, it does look good in that variegated color – I was wondering what to do with my skein of Brooks Farm wool, and now I think you’ve shown me the right thing to do with it.

    8. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful place! Where on earth IS that? The double rainbow is breathtaking!
You have such a way with variegated yarn… I’ve never seen anyone use it more effectively in lace than you do. That scarf is amazing!

    9. Spectacular views indeed! And a fabulous rainbow pic.

    10. Beautiful! So odd to see it without snow.

  • Trekking with the sock IV

Last week the sock and I took another trip to the mountains.  Big mountains, high mountains, western mountains, not our old worn down easy to breathe while climbing mountains.  The sock and I did our best.

..and came back down the easy way.

It was a great trip.  Friends, family, food, music and mountains.  What’s not to like?

  • backwards

This morning, as I sat with my first cup of coffee, searching through my images looking for this picture of Zak, I realized that with limited time available to me before I must pack up my car and head south, I really want to walk around outside in my bathrobe, look at the gardens, and enjoy the VERY cool (mid 40’s) early morning.  The things I’d planned on writting today have been said, and said well.  Over and over again.  At one time or another, usually on our blog-o-versarys, most of us have talked about what blogging has done for us.  So instead of looking back, I’ll look forward.  Tomorrow starts my 4th year…  seems incredible.

Now, off to do some really important stuff….pick out yarn for a take with project, probably a new shawl, and that walk, my second cup of coffee and getting my feet wet in the dew.  Not in that order.
