Time: Saturday, early afternoon
Place: the kitchen
Players: C and myself
C: Where’s my popcorn maker, the games tonight? I’ve got to make the popcorn.
Me: mmm.. it’s in the furnace room, I’m using it.
C: Huh?? The game’s tonight, I need it, what are you doing with my popcorn makerin the furnace room.. is this some knitting thing?
Me: I’m using it to block the hat (the Celtic Harbor Hat). It’s the perfect size, almost the same size as my head. I really need it for awhile. The hat’s still wet.
C: When can I have it? The game’s tonight. I have to make popcorn for the game.
Me: mmmm…. how about another bowl to nuke popcorn… let’s try it, let’s see….
blue bowl on top of microwave popcorn bowl = just about right
Notes: Would I make it again? Right now I’d say no, probably not, but I do like it, and I’ll know better when I wear it. The shape is different from the picture on the pattern. Claudia noted that it was not the pilbox she’d expected. Right, not a pillbox. It should be a really good hat for walking in the winter. Remember, it does have three layers over the ears. That’s a good thing on these cold windy days. Before I soaked this yarn, the hat was very tight, a real brain squeezer. I don’t think I’ve ever had a yarn soften up as much as this one did while wet. I wondered if I’d be able to ever get it into any shape other than a lump of wool. Note to myself here… although by different names, Filatura Di Crossa LUNA, the yarn that I am using for my V neck ribbed sweater, is the same yarn as the Lana Grossa MERINO BIG used in the hat. That said, I do not want to wet block the sweater, when it’s done. Steam blocking will be enough. I’ll deal with wet later, when I have to wash it.
We’re ready..
’cause baby, it’s cold out there…

That’s one BIG kitty!
That’s one complacent Kitty! Mine wouldn’t sit still for that. Beautiful hat, though. You’ll have to model it yourself for us.
Your cat looks so darn proud of that scarf! Pleased as punch.
S/he’s a beautiful kitty- what a face! Few cats are such compliant models.
Your cat looks very smug with that gorgeous scarf to wear.
The bowl idea was perfection. The hat should be warm with the double layers of knitting but it’s very attractive, too.
That is the cutest cat on earth, and warm too! Nice hat, but I still like the pattern for a rug :-).
MEOWWWW……she looks quite content in her little scarf!
I wonder if any of my cats would pose like that. The hat is pretty – I’ll stay turned for further fitting developments.
Warm and toasty scarf for all kinds of outdoor activities! Gorgeous colors as well.
great cat photo 🙂
So, what happened with the alternate popcorn bowl? Hehe.
And MAN, what an ANGEL KITTY! SWEETheart! I know very few kitties who’ll stay still for a photo, much less allow you to adorn them with knitwear and then stay still for a photo.
SO CUTE.
Scarf and cat? Purrrrfect. And that’s what it looks like kitty is doing.
Beautiful! The hat, the scarf and the cat!
Heehee, love your cat’s contented expression.
